Brett Murphy, who describes himself as "the other gray beard" in the group, was raised in Lake Carmel, N.Y. in the Hudson River Valley. He started singing there and later on Staten Island, while studying at Wagner College. He and wife, Carol raised three children -- Christopher, Rebekah, and Andrew. Brett works as a reading teacher and special educator at Spaulding High School in Barre, where he coordinates the Skills Center. In addition to singing with Counterpoint, he is a member of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra's quartet, AH! Cappella which presents concerts to Vermont's school children. He has worked with Mr. De Cormier on numerous recording projects. Brett appears as a soloist with the VSO Chorus and directs the Choir of St. Mary's Church. For years, he performed renaissance cathedral music with Vox Sacra.
Brett serves as a member of the Board of Trustees and treasurer of the Brookhaven Home for Boys in Chelsea, VT. He enjoys gardening, cooking, and reading mysteries.
